I’ve been in the music industry for over 38 years, here in Charlotte. I DJed in the clubs & radio for over 28 years. My company, Starfleet Music Pool, turned 22 years old Jan 2012. I love music & what it does to & for people. There’s nothing like playing new music for people who complain about not knowing the song early in the night, only to have them wanting to know more about that same music later in the night.

Where should I begin? Back in the day when Fred, Barney, Wilma & I use to chase dinosaur puppies around the backyard, oops! Is that too far back? I remember when we use to walk & or ride our banana seat bikes 2 or 3 miles back & forth to school everyday, rain, snow or sunshine. Still too far. I remember what change my career path from a high performance mechanic to a DJ, back in the early 70′s. One of my good customers, Pat, would bring in several of his cars for maintenance. He always had a roll of cash on him. One day, I asked him, what do you do for a living? He said, I’m a mobile DJ. I said, what’s a mobile DJ? Long story short, I went with him one weekend to do a high school dance. I helped roll out his equipment & set it up. As the night went along, Pat stood behind the turntables with the mic, playing music & talking to the crowd. I noticed all of the cute girls hanging onto everything he was saying. At the end of the night, I asked him, do you make any money doing this? He said, I just made $500. My eyes lite up with money signs & hot ladies all around, no greasy hands or burnt arms from working on cars, I have found my calling! Here I am 37 plus years later, hooked to the music business. I love the business, but not the pay right now. What do you think, can you see a movie here? I have a title & 37 years of wild & craziness.
